Hr.Ms. Scheveningen (M855) 2006-2009

One of our projects was the building of a Dutch mine warfare vessel of the “Alkmaar klasse” Hr.Ms. "Scheveningen" (M855). The original ship is from a series called tripartite which was a corporation of the Belgium, French and Dutch marine in the early eighties. Hr.Ms. "Scheveningen" was sold in 2007 to Letvia.

In the summer of 2006 we started building this model from scratch on a scale of 1:50. This was our first scale model we built from the drawing board. Fortunately there are some drawings available with scale 1:50 and 1:100. We did choose to built it on scale 1:50 and it is radio controlled.

We made the hull of wood, the rest of the model is made of plastic. We did collect pictures and photos of the original ships to have as much details as we can. On the front of the ship, the 20 mm Giat gun is equipped with a servo so it can turn. Also, the radar is moving with a small motor. In the photo section you will find more photos about the building of this vessel. We also made a small movie of the first voyage. Building time was three years.

Drawings of this model are available from:
